Welcome from the President
Let’s make some noise! Fall is a good time to think about how we can promote our club. Put on your thinking caps - can each of you give a board member two ideas on how to get the Lions name in front of the public? This is a brainstorming activity; don’t let cost or time deter you from bringing up an idea. I’ll start...
Build or buy park benches, attach the Lion emblem to them, and distribute them in public places.
Look for free advertising/name recognition opportunities in the Gazette or other news resource - i.e. things to do, weekly meeting notice, names of newly elected board members, KidSight screening promotion, etc.
Make it a point to hand out at least one of the Lions business cards each week to someone you meet. Tell at least one non-Lion person each week that you are a Lion. Make some noise :-)
Speaking of noise, let’s offer loud applause to our Variety Show committee for a successful September 23rd event! Jan Federer, Mary Doyle, K.A. Nanjappa, Ralph Wasik, Dennis Egel, Elaine Brown, Paddy, Akash… WOW! Thank you for a wonderful event! And to those of you who helped with set up, clean up, food, sponsorships, ticket sales, door prizes, etc… your efforts have netted our club projects $5,000.00 (or more - there are still two unpaid sponsorships outstanding.) THANK YOU!!
Lastly, make plans to attend and ROAR at our District’s Fall Rally at the Northwest Community Center on Saturday, October 20th. Cost is $15.00 which includes kolaches for breakfast and a Czech meal for lunch. As the sponsoring club, we’d like our members to be well-represented in attendance. Speakers include our own Margaret Debner, talking about her Prediabetes journey.
